The Switcheroo Crochet Shawl x Bow Fiddle Yarns Collaboration

There’s something really special about creative collaborations - that moment where ideas, textures and colour come together in a way you couldn’t quite have imagined on your own. The Switcheroo Crochet Shawl was exactly that kind of project.

A Play on Texture and Colour

From the very beginning, this design felt like a celebration of contrast.

Think:

  • calm, meditative stitches paired with more open, airy sections

  • gentle repetition alongside moments of change

  • colour transitions that feel playful, not overwhelming

The result is a shawl that invites you to slow down and enjoy the process - but also keeps you engaged as the shape evolves.

It’s the kind of project where you can really feel the stitches building into something meaningful.

Designed for Beautiful Yarn

One of the joys of this collaboration was working with Louise from Bow Fiddle Yarns.

Her colourways are rich, expressive, and full of personality - making them the perfect match for a design that leans into contrast and transitions.

The pattern works beautifully with:

  • two full skeins for a bold, balanced look

  • or mini skeins if you want to really embrace the “switcheroo” effect

There’s so much room to make it your own, which is something I always aim for in my designs.

A Shawl to Enjoy Making

For me, this shawl is about enjoying the process as much as the finished piece.

The alternating sections keep things interesting without feeling complicated, making it a lovely project to pick up when you want something engaging but still relaxing.

It’s the kind of make that lets you settle into a rhythm, while still giving you those little moments of “ooh, this is coming together nicely.”

Final Thoughts

Collaborations like this remind me why I love what I do.

They’re about connection - between makers, between ideas, and between the process and the finished piece.

It’s a design I’ve really enjoyed creating, and I hope you’ll enjoy making it just as much.

The Inspiration Behind the Design

This collaboration with Bow Fiddle Yarns began with a simple but exciting idea:
What would a crochet version of the much-loved Switcheroo Shawl look like?

The original design plays with construction in a beautifully clever way - two opposing triangles forming a striking parallelogram shape, with alternating sections that create movement and visual interest.

My challenge was to translate that same sense of rhythm and contrast into crochet - while keeping it accessible, enjoyable, and satisfying to make.
