Mother's Day Crafternoon Tea

Come and put the mental load down for an afternoon

Sunday 8th March 2026 · Brook House, St Neots

What a gift it can be to step out of the busy week before Mother’s Day and spend a few hours being gently looked after.

This Crafternoon Tea is an invitation to slow down, take the weight off, and enjoy a calm, joyful afternoon of knitting, crochet, and afternoon tea - without needing to plan, organise, or think ahead.

Just arrive.

We’ll take care of the rest.

Why we’re hosting this afternoon

If you’re a mother, you’re probably carrying more than you realise.

The lists.

The dates.

The quiet background thinking that keeps everything ticking along.

This afternoon is about setting that down for a while.

You don’t need to make decisions.

You don’t need to be responsible for anyone else.

You don’t need to hold everything together.

We’ve thought through the details so you don’t have to - and we’d love to welcome you into a beautiful, peaceful space where you can simply enjoy the making.

What the afternoon will feel like

This isn’t a busy workshop or a high-energy social.

It’s:

  • relaxed and welcoming

  • light and quietly celebratory

  • calm, with space to breathe

You’ll be seated at small tables of 6-8, with time to settle in, focus on your stitches, chat if you’d like, or simply enjoy the rhythm of making.

Our hope is that you leave feeling lighter, connected, treated, and satisfied - and quietly pleased with what you’ve made.

What you’ll be making

During the afternoon, you’ll be guided through both a knit and a crochet option - and you’ll get the chance to try both.

The project will be a small, pretty piece (such as a coaster or floral-style motif), designed to feel achievable and enjoyable.

You don’t need to be “creative” in a big, brave way.

The pattern will guide you step by step.

And if you enjoy adding your own touches?

You’re very welcome to make it your own.

Some knitting or crochet experience is helpful, but we’ll be on hand throughout to help with anything that feels unfamiliar.

How the afternoon unfolds

We’ve kept the structure gentle and unhurried.

1:00pm - Arrival and welcome

1:15–2:00pm - Demonstration and guided start

2:00–4:00pm - Afternoon tea served, relaxed crafting time

Afternoon tea is included as part of your ticket and is a proper, generous treat.

There is also the option to add a glass of prosecco or juice at checkout, if you’d like to make the afternoon feel a little more celebratory — entirely optional, and very much your choice.

You don’t need to watch the clock.

We’ll guide the flow and keep everything feeling easy.

Being looked after

You’ll be supported throughout the afternoon by two experienced tutors.

Jenny is a published crochet designer, and Nessa teaches knitting in London and runs her own studio. We both practise mindful making — slowing down, enjoying the process, and letting progress come gently.

If you get stuck, we’ll help.

If you need reassurance, it’s there.

If you’d rather quietly get on with your making, that’s just as welcome.

Our aim is that you feel noticed, supported, and at ease.

The setting

The event takes place at Brook House in St Neots, a venue we chose because it feels calm, welcoming, and quietly special.

It’s the kind of space that makes it easier to exhale — and exactly the right place for a thoughtful Sunday afternoon just before Mother’s Day.

What your ticket includes (£77)

Your place includes:

  • Afternoon tea (worth around £30)

Is this for me?

This afternoon is for you if:

  • you already knit or crochet a little

  • you enjoy learning gently, without pressure

  • you’d love an afternoon where you don’t have to hold everything together
